Zita Ephron Says Hello

Joey at One Year OldMary Moore and LaMika MooreChristmas 2007Mr. Joey in getting ready for his promZita Ephron and Joey Ephron on Mexican Cruise 2004

My name is Zita Ephron. This is not the same Zita as the ordained minister. I am her niece. I have been married for 18 years and I have one son, Joey, who even though he is 21 years old, he is the light of my life. When I was 18, I decided that the best thing for me was to join the Army. I proudly served my Country for over 9 years and received many awards. Today, I currently work on Fort Carson, Colorado in the Casualty Assistance Center. This is a job that I thought I could never do, considering some of the tasks that I had to complete, but it has been the most rewarding jo9b that I have ever held.

My husband, Marvin, is currently a soldier in the US Army and is due to deploy for the third time to Iraq within the next month. Please send your prayers for his safe return.

My son, Joey, is 21 years old and is working for a company who does installation of DVD/CD equipment all over the US. Joey is at the time in his life where he is not sure what he wants to do with his future. He has recently thought of going to the East Coast to start a new life. I have told him that he has family there and they would be happy to show him the ropes.

I grew up in the Washington, DC area with my loving mother Mary Moore and my three (3) sisters. Mary is the daughter of John Arrington, Jr. and the sister of John, Marvell, Zita, John and Manuel Arrington. Mary may have had a hard and long life, but one thing has always remained constant with her. That is the love she has and always will have for her father, John Henry Arrington, Jr.

Many may think that we, the children of Mary, may not have had a good life, but let me be the first to dispel this for anyone. Mary is and always will be a strong woman. I remember seeing her going through things that no human should ever endure, but she did and she overcame. We, the daughters of Mary will always love and have the greatest amount of respect for the woman who did the best that she could for her children.

While I do not want to take anything from my grandfather illness nor his immediate family, I would like for every person who share this geanology to please send my mother, Mary, your condolences this weekend. The reason that I ask this is because, tomorrow, 26 July will be the 12th anniversary of the death of her youngest daughter and my sister’s death. Send a little note to let her know that she is in your thoughts.

My family thoughts are with my grandfather at this time in our life, but I thought that it may be okay for me to post some of our family photos at this time, so that we can have idea of who we are, since it has been a long time since the last meeting.

To my aunts and uncles, I want to say thank you and that we love you for what you have done to keep us in you thoughts as you all are in ours.

THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BREAK A FAMILY BOND AND WE NOW HAVE THAT.

With love and admiration.

I Have Returned!

Doing Homework! Hello people. My name is Joel M Arrington and I have returned. :-) I have been traveling and working across the US and the world for many years now and this is the first time I have really been back home in the MD, DC, VA area for any length of time in almost 20 years now. I am once again single and just trying to put my life together into some sort of a cohesive environment where I can not only exist but thrive. I am in Baltimore now, well actually in Pikesville just out side of Baltimore city proper. I have a new job and it looks as if I may be around for quite a few years as I have already been noticed for my skill set at work. I have a varied background and extremely deep and extensive experiences in the computer consulting field. In fact I am in the process of opening a small business in the State of MD to service the computer needs of some people that have approached me. if you need computer help you can always look me up at aaccmjb.com.

I’d like to thank my younger brother Manuel Arrington for maintaining and administering this site these past years as I was not able to help much but I am back and I hope to increase my participation in the administration of this site to make it a better and more interactive place for the family to use.

I was most lately living in Kansas City for almost a year and before that I was in St. Charles, MO just outside of St. Louis. Over the past twenty five years I have lived in Jefferson City, MO; Detroit, MI; Birmingham, AL; Jacksonville, FL; Ft Lauderdale, FL; Pittsburgh, PA; Topeka, KS; Monroe, LA; New Orleans, LA; Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, AZ; Yuma, AZ; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Akron, OH; Richmond, VA, Columbia, SC; Memphis, TN; Little Rock, AR, Lowell, AR; Bentonville, AR; Dallas, TX; El Paso, TX; Houston, TX; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN, Lexington, KY; Minneapolis St Paul, MN; Chicago, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Americus, GA, Atlanta, GA; Charleston, WV; Newark, DE; Wilmington, DE; Chesapeake Beach, MD; Washington, DC; Montreal, Canada; Winnipeg, Canada; Santa Rosa, Mexico; Sydney, Australia; Melbourne, Australia; London, UK; Kingston, Jamaica; and a number of other small towns and places from a few days to a few weeks. I am trying now that I have gained a wealth of experience in my chosen field of computers to put down some more permanent roots. My son, Dion, is in Virginia Beach, VA and I got to spend some time with him last fall and now I try and speak to him often. Well I hope you will not be strangers and that my presence will be beneficial not only to the site but to my family as well.

Deep in thought!

I’d also like to thank my younger brother Manuel again but this time for all his years of support and the newest member of our tribe in this area, Dawn, for all her care and to say how much she is appreciated!

Pop in the Hospital!

John Henry Jr & John Henry III

For those of you who don’t know John Henry Arrington Jr., my Pop, has been in the hospital for over two months now. he has made remarkable progress in his recovery moving from the ICU to Intermediate care, to the general ward. We even saw him leave the formal hospital facility for a few days but the pneumonia he was suffering from and the Staph infection came back and we had to move him back to Washington Hospital Center. We ask for your prayers and any expressions of your concern be sent to us here or that you contact Manuel Arrington for a physical address to send things to. Cards, balloons or other such items are welcome but flowers are not because of his respiratory problems. Here are some pics of Pop, John Henry Jr, and his immediate family visiting him in the Hospital. He got surprised by his daughter-in-law Jeanette, who has also been ill, coming to see him and in general was just in good spirits that day. We also have Andriana, Zita’s daughter who came to see her Pop Pop! Among the other visitors he’s had have been his cousin Treasure Arrington and Jean, John Roosevelt Arrington (Chuck John the thirds oldest son) and of course Michelle, Marvelle’s daughter has been a constant visitor. His five children (Zita, Marvelle, Manuel, Joel and John H III have spent time sitting with him and watching over him almost daily. We want to especially thank Marvelle, Zita and Mony for giving so much of their time and although we know it is done out of love we are still grateful and thankful they are able to spend so much time with Pop. Well we will keep you updated on his recovery and as John Henry celebrated his 85th in February we ask that all your parayers include that we’d love for him to see many more birthdays.

Thank you!

Joel M. Arrington - The “Middle” son

Our Angel on Earth, originally uploaded by marrngtn (Manuel).

My sister has a calming, comforting and nurturing spirit. She has the ability to reassure my father in his times of confusion and frustration. She has been an Angel to see over him and care for him.

Zita, I don’t know where he, I or the rest of the family would be without you. May God Protect You All Of Your Days.

Did I mention she is an Attorney, Former Nurse(MSN) and an Ordained Minister.

John Henry Arrington Jr. Recovering

John Henry is making an exceptional recovery today. Here is pictured feeding himself his Monday Dinner.

Yesterday, Sunday May 18th 2008, John Henry was having a dark moment late in the day. His six children, one in spirit, were at his bedside. Prayers and affirmations of faith, hope and love were given. He was anointed with water from the Basilica of the National Shrine where this candle was lit in his name on Sunday.

The water was placed upon his head and chest. His children anointed their hands with water as well. He instructed his family to leave.

Yet today he is restored and stead fast in his faith of recovery. Although he stated he is tired he looks forward to celebrating his 100th Birthday with his family 15 years from now.

As stated by family friend Reverend Cameron Peterson Sr: “To GOD be the Glory for the Things HE has done!!!”

We haven’t been posting because of the serious nature of his condition.

Cherry Blossoms

Mary Arrington was escorted by her daughters( Marvelle, Zita, Staceye) and her Youngest Grand Daughter Aniya to place flowers and to pay respects at the grave site of her sister Ms. Catherine Snoody.
Auntie Cat stays in our hearts with the fond memories we had growing up. Nothing pays higher tribute to Auntie Cat and Mom then the sister hood that Zita and Marvelle share.

The family enjoyed an Early Easter Dinner at Ruby Tuesdays in Largo, Maryland.

Memorial Service for William Lucian Carter

The memorial service for William Lucian Carter was held on Thursday January 17, 2008 in Madison County Virginia. Despite the blistering cold weather and snow fall, there was a strong showing of family and friends. Family from Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Washington DC, Georgia and California came to pay there respects.
The service had a very impromptu and casual feel as William wanted. The majority of the service was taken up by comments, stories and kind words from those in attendance about their favorite memories of William Lucian Carter. It was mentioned how not too many knew his middle name was Lucian. The stories of William did seem to have one central theme and that was his driving. I never rode in a car with William but those that had, had a story to tell.

I didn’t get a lot of great shots but I know others were taking pictures so if they would send them I know all would be appreciative.
