Thank You Washington DC Family and Friends

The memorial service yesterday was inspiring and worthy of the man it celebrated. Many family and friends came to Varick Memorial to share in the Celebration of life.

Thank you to Reverend Cheek and the entire Varick Memorial AME Zion Family for allowing us to use the church for this occasion.

We look forward to seeing the entire family on October 18th 2008 in Brightwood Virginia.  All are welcome, family and friends.

If you missed the service please go over Vimeo and you can view the first 20 minutes:

Memorial Service for Reverend John Henry Arrington Jr. (1923-2008)

Pop in the Pulpit

Update: If you would like to view the obituary appearing in the Washington Post Click Here.

We would like to let everyone know that presently we are planning two memorial services for the Reverend John Henry Arrington Jr.

The first memorial service will be on September 22, 2008 at Noon in Washington, DC at the church he built and loved so much:

Varick Memorial AME Zion
255 Anacostia Ave NE
Washington, DC 20019
(202) 399-9221

Family, friends, and the public are invited to attend this service. Although, the service is in Washington, DC, we know that John Henry was loved by people everywhere. We encourage all those who would like to attend, please feel free to join us as we celebrate his life.

The second memorial service is presently being planned to occur on October 18, in Madison, Va. This service will include interning his ashes in the family plot at the generational family church home located in Brightwood, Va.  Specific details will be posted for the Virginia Ceremony as they become available.  This service will be his true farewell and we encourage all family members to attend this service rather than the Washington, DC service, especially if you can not attend both services.

For expressions of sympathy, we are presently identifying several charities and causes for people to make donations to in honor of John Henry Arrington Jr. We are also requesting donations to help support this web site to ensure his legacy, as well as the legacy of our family, be maintained for many years. You may gift a non-tax deductible contribution directly to this cause by using the donations button on the home page of this site. We thank you for your support as John Henry loved this site. Our intentions are to maintain and grow the site for generations to come. With your participation and our dedication, we can make it the site John Henry envisioned for the family.
