Leukemia Lymphoma Society (Marcella Arrington)

Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you so very much for your continued support and encouragement over the last four years. There is no way I could have come this far without each and every one of you. I appreciate your support and kindness over the past several years and I can’t say it enough, thank you, thank you, thank you. Well, as everyone is aware, I completed the Grand Canyon hike last month. I know what you are thinking because I heard it quite a bit “ girl you are crazy ‘, in fact just the opposite just determined. It was the most difficult and rigorous event I have ever participated in and I literally had to pray and sing my way out of the canyon. I discovered why almost three hundred people died there every year hiking this magnificent creation and I saw a gentlemen almost fall to his death in an attempt to get a photograph. This continues to be a very physical, mental, spiritual and emotional challenge for me. However, this seems minor in comparison to the thousands of individuals who are affected by Leukemia and other blood related cancers. Leukemia and other blood related cancers remains the number one killer of our children. Every twelve minutes in the United States, we will loose a child to this form of cancer.

I am now training for my seventh marathon which will be in Maui in a few months. This season, all participants are responsible for raising almost $5000. In an attempt to reach my goal I am asking you to please make a donation in whatever amount you are able to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. In the memo section write Desert Mountain Chapter. Please mail your donations to me before July 30, 06 to P O Box 39283 Phoenix, Az 85069. As you well know, all monies are 100% tax deductible. If you wish to make a donation on line instead just go to www.active.com/donate/tntdms/tntdmsSArring and follow the instructions. You will receive a instant receipt in your email upon completion or you may print a copy of the transaction . The tax id number for this organization is 13-5644916. Any assistance that you can provide would be appreciated more than you can imagine. Thanks again, if you have any questions just email me @ :

Family Finance Minute for June 13, 2006

Important news folks,

If you have student loans,  the Student Loan program as you know it is ending as June 30, 2006.  The new program will have higher rates.  You do have the opportunity to consolidate all of your existing loans.  Contact http://www.loanconsolidation.ed.gov/borrower/borrower.shtml to see if you would benefit from consolidation.  You can also call them at 1-800-557-7392.

I just heard this information on the Clark Howard Radio Show, if you have towing reimbursement with your auto insurance company they can use this information to raise your rates should you take advantage of it.  The recommendation is to buy this service from AAA or Costco/BJs Wholesale/Walmart

Pretty disturbing that they would raise your insurance rate for using their service but it doesn't surprise me.

Hurricane Season is upon us, You might want to contact the Flood Insurance folks.  Katrina showed us what can happen to those that are ill-prepared.  Now is the time to get a few extra cases of drinking water and a couple of boxes of pop tarts.  Pop Tarts you laugh, thats right pop tarts.  Read the news.  You should also think of things such as a tube of Neosporin, bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide, Band-Aids, Diarrhea Control Medicine Etc.  Please don't get caught flat footed expecting the government to help you.  You first duty to yourself and your family is to make reasonable provisions.
